Maestro Cesar Maynas Bardales, Cesar Soimetsa (a perfectly done task) has been my maestro for four years now, having resuscitated and brought me back to life after the passing of my spouse. I owe him my present day sanity and well-being to a large extent. He is at the helm of Rao Kano Xobo Healing Centre in Pucallpa, right in the front-line trenches of curanderismo, and has been in the medicine world for some thirty years having studied with Antonio Munioz Burgo (maestro Senén Pani).

Cesar Soimetsa is one of the most powerful Shipibo maestros working at present, coming from a lineage of onayas which is a lineage of medicine men who work with ayahuasca and acquire their strength and wisdom through master-plant dietas that take years to complete. Maestro Cesar opens master-plant dietas, two weeks being the minimum needed for aligning your medicine; most dietas will take three to nine months to complete. His qualifications are widely recognized and he travels the world regularly to work with ‘heavy cases’ such as those of business clients.

His ability to clear heavy energies is well-known and he is one of the few maestros who are sought after by high-profile Peruvians holding positions in regional office as well as Russian oligarchs that land in private jets for three nights of consecutive ceremonies and take off first thing in the morning. The centre, however, stays as humble as ever due to the fact that Cesar charged flat fee for the ceremonies he holds, regardless how well-off his patrons may be.

When Cesar sings, his voice resonates to the far corners of the universe.

And here’s a recording of maestro Senén Pani that is really worth listening to get a feel for the old school Shipibo singing:
